My wife, (Marla), and I worked as “Social Workers” in Sungi Besi and on the island of Palau Bidong from 1983-1985. I managed the Single Young Men’s Program and tried as hard as I could to help many young men and boys get accepted to relocate to Canada, Australia, France, or the USA. This was one of the most challenging and personally rewarding times of my life and it was truly an honor for me to spend two years of my life serving in those two refugee camps and working side by side with my wonderful Vietnamese “teammates”. I recently retired from teaching High School in Washington State and Marla and I have seven children and five grandchildren and we are still very active and healthy and live near Wenatchee, WA…but I still have very fond memories of my time in Malaysia and wonder about the many of the guys who worked with me during our time there. Here are a few photos that some of you might like to see. Thank you very much!
