On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the fall of the Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Heritage Museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is pleased to announce the unveiling of the Boat of Hope on May 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 13962 Seaboard Circle, Garden Grove, CA 92843.
The Boat of Hope is a powerful symbol of the courage and determination of the Boat People. In 1984, nine young Vietnamese refugees embarked on a treacherous journey aboard a small wooden sampan, fleeing their homeland in search of a better life. After days of navigating dangerous waters, they reached the safety of new lands and built new lives.
The Vietnamese Heritage Museum is honored to preserve the shared history and heritage of Vietnamese refugees in America and around the world, including paying homage to the boat people’s legacy and inspiring future generations. The unveiling of the Boat of Hope is a testament to the perseverance and fortitude of those who overcame adversity and began a new life in a foreign land.
The Vietnamese Heritage Museum welcomes the public to join us on this momentous occasion and celebrate the bravery of the Boat People and the historical significance of the sampan.
