A Brief Biography

Mr. Vu Phong Tran – The Journalist

His real name is Van Ngoc Tran. He was born in 1932 in Thai Binh and immigrated to the South of Vietnam in 1954. Before 1975 he was a commentator for the National Radio Station programs and the general secretary for quite a few Southern newspapers.He was a high school teacher for some famed private schools such as Thu Khoa, Hung Dao, Nguyen Ba Tong, Lasan Taberd…

In 1956 he received the first prize from the Culture Service-Ministry of Information of the Republic of Viet Nam for his “Mùa Hợp Tấu -Chorus Season” book. 

After 1975 he settled in California, The U.S.A. He is one among those who have founded the Home Language Bookcase, where many books, related to politics and history, have been published.

He continues his writing skills by providing articles to Duong Song (Way of Life) and Dien Dan Giao Dan (Lay Forum) magazines. He also cooperates with various news and literary commentary programs on some well-known Vietnamese TV such as SBTN, VHN. He is the author of 14 books, which cover many areas including literature, poetry, political studies and religion. Some of his work was lost during the war.

 He is now living in Orange County, California.
