On Pulau Bidong, Vietnamese people applied for resettlement in a “third country”; many factors affected their eligibility and success. Once “accepted”, people were taken from Pulau Bidong (by boat) to Kuala Trengganu, and then by bus to Sungei Besi, outside Kuala Lumpur. Leaving Bidong was emotionally exhausting for many, but the day they had waited for; it began the next stage of their journey.
The Vietnamese Heritage Museum (VHM) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of our Vietnamese refugees’ heritage. VHM collects and shares the testimonies and artifacts that tell the stories of the Vietnamese refugees. We wish to preserve this heritage for present and future generations to reflect upon.
