Vu Hoang Hai

A Brief Biography

Vu Hoang Hai was born in 1965 in Saigon, Former Seminary of Thanh Tam Hue Seminary, Former Student of Saigon Colleges for Education, major in Music-Fine Arts.

In 1989, he escaped to Thailand, he was the Representative of the Youth Group at the Refugee Camp of Thailand, and was forced to return to Vietnam in 1996.

He graduated with Bachelor Degree in Southeast Asian Studies in Saigon in 2004. Founding Bach Dang Giang Foundation in 2006 and joining Bloc 8406 (a small unified coalition of political groups in Vietnam that advocates for democratic reforms in Vietnam.)

He was a former Political Prisoner, arrested under article 79 “Activities to overthrow the government”, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 2 years probation under article 88 for “Propaganda Against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.”

After he released from prison, the US State Department intervened and he was settled in the United States in 2010.

In 2018, he graduated with a Bachelor of Linguistics from California State University, Fullerton, California.

Vũ Hoàng Hải sinh 1965 tại Sài Gòn, Cựu Chủng Sinh Dòng Thánh Tâm Huế, Cựu Sinh Viên Trường Cao Đẳng Sư Phạm Sài Gòn, Khoa Âm Nhạc-Mỹ Thuật.

Năm 1989 vượt biên sang Thái Lan, là Đại diện Bút Nhóm Thanh Niên tại Trại Tỵ Nạn Thái Lan, bị cưỡng bức về Việt Nam năm 1996.

Tốt nghiệp Cử Nhân Đông Nam Á Học tại Sài Gòn năm 2004. Sáng lập Tổ Chức Bạch Đằng Giang năm 2006 và tham gia Khối 8406.

Cựu Tù Nhân Chính Trị, bị bắt theo điều 79  “Hoạt động lật đổ chính quyền nhân dân”, bị kết án 2 năm tù giam và 2 năm quản chế theo điều 88 vì “Tuyên Truyền Chống Phá Nhà Nước CHXHCNVN.” Sau khi ra tù được Bộ Ngoại Giao Hoa Kỳ can thiệp và định cư tại Hoa Kỳ năm 2010.

Tốt nghiệp Cử Nhân Ngôn Ngữ Học tại California State University, Fullerton năm 2018.
